This is not a typical hike posting that I normally do. Today I was up earlier than usual on a Saturday morning and decided to get out for an early morning walk around the neighborhood and take advantage of the early morning light and the quietness of the morning since it was a beautiful sunny day out.
We are fortunate to have open space and greenbelt areas right in the neighborhood to be able to get out in nature just a quick walk from the house. I headed out about 7:30am (which isn’t extremely early but early enough for a Saturday morning)!
I headed over to Sanctuary Park, a native grass park that follows the North Tributary of SJCD South drainage. There are two ponds in the park, which are located along the drainage. The park is a nice place for local songbird and waterfowl viewing.
Some ice crystals around some dry reed in the stream.
Reflections in the stream.
One of the little waterfalls along the stream.
Looking across the stream to the untouched snow.
Some ducks crossing one of the frozen ponds.
A rabbit also out for an early morning walk!
A quick little morning walk to start off the day. I want to try and get out more earlier in the morning – it’s always so much more peaceful.
